The Animals – The Most Of The Animals
1992

Wiki: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Animals

Growing up with Dad and his music, I’d been exposed to the likes of The Animals all my life (Dad’s band, The Swordsman, even covered Roadrunner). However, my first solid recollection of this album was when Stu Parfitt loaned the cassette to me in ’92. Rather than the hits I knew it was the blues on the album that captured my attention.

The Most Of The Animals is, as the title suggests, a ‘best of’ compilation. It doesn’t fail to deliver, either. The album has all the hits you’d expect, which have well and truly stood the test of time.

It starts off with House Of The Rising Sun then We Gotta Get Out Of This Place. That essentially sets the scene for what to expect from this album, classic rhythm ‘n’ blues and classic rock ‘n’ roll.

Naturally there are some tracks that I could do without, but even they’ve grown on me. Luckily there are no crappy tracks that shouldn’t have even been recorded.

This is a great album to have if you like The Animals but don’t want to fork out for all their recordings. It’s even a great album for a taste of the 60′s rock ‘n’ roll and blues.

Standout tracks are basically too numerous to mention, but just think of all the great Animals songs in one convenient, easy-to-swallow package.

8.5/10
