Big Audio Dynamite

Big Audio Dynamite (aka BAD II) – The Globe (including Alley Pally – Paradiso The Live “Official Bootleg”)
1991

Mick Jones (lead singer of The Clash) brings his punk vocal flair to this essentially dance oriented outfit. Having said that you could easily be forgiven for not picking any kind of punk influence here if you don’t know who The Clash are (and if you don’t know who The Clash are I just died a little bit inside for you).

It’s not a ‘strong’ album, but it’s a bit of fun. Most of the songs would be welcome on a dacefloor; in fact a couple of them should be made compulsory on the dancefloor. The ballads (well, laid back tracks, as there’s only one ‘real’ ballad) stand up well enough, but are a bit generic.

As individual tracks it’s not a bad album, but as an entire album it all sounds a bit the same (with the exception of the standout tracks).

The standout tracks are Rush, The Golbe, Innocent Child and to a lesser extent The Tea Party.

Alley Pally – Paradiso The Live “Official Bootleg”

This was a bonus disc with The Globe. As the title suggests it’s a live album.

Frankly I don’t think it’s actually worth going right into.

I’ll say three things about this bonus disc;

1) To give you an insight ino the style of music, see above
2) The songs basically all sound the same
3) BAD II sound awesome live

Standout tracks are Situation No Win and 1999 (the Prince song).

6/10
