Big Pig

Big Pig – Bonk
1987 [/1992]

Wiki: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Big_Pig

This album was originally released in ’87 but I found a reissue in ’92 with a couple of bonus remixes.

I LOVE Bonk! This is one of my quite frequently played CD’s. I love a good rhythm section and Big Pig have about 362 percussionists. Well… okay, it might only be 227. But it’s got a great vibe regardless.

Bonk actually did quite well with the singles released from it, and most people would know those songs, too (see ‘standout tracks’).

There is a definite blues basis as the harmonica plays a big part of their music and, coupled with the industrial beats, it’s a [mostly] energetic album. The music is very precise with the slower ballads being done extremely well.

There are a few less memorable songs, but the good [/read great] songs more than make up for those.

If you like blues and a good solid beat give Bonk a try.

Standout tracks are Breakaway, Big Hotel, Hungry Town, Boy Wonder, Hellbent Heaven, Nation, Money God and Devil’s Song.

9/10

(I Know this is generous and I doubt very much that anyone else rating it would score it so highly, but like I said… I LOVE Bonk! This is the joy of it being MY score!!)
