The Black Eyed Peas are a Top 40 group I mostly don’t mind. Elephunk is actually quite a funky album and nowhere near as pretentious as other crap you hear 4 times a day with morons yelling and laughing over the top of it on commercial radio.
I actually bought this album for Lise way-back-when because she loved Hey Mama.
One reason that Elephunk is decent is because the songs actually sound different to eachother. Sure, there are some tracks I skip, but there are some decent songs too. Will.I.Am is a respectable MC with a great flow to his lyrics and Fergie delivers her vocals well without the usual wailing-like-a-banshee crap that is jammed into the Top 40.
Essentially Elephunk is a hit machine, but is diverse enough for me to like it. In fact one of my favourite songs for a while was Anxiety with Papa Roach, where they pull off (very well, I might add) an almost Linkin Park rock track. I actually like all the tracks that were hits on this album, too.
Standout tracks are Hands Up, Let’s Get Retarded, Hey Mama, Shut Up, Anxiety and Where Is The Love.
